Cardiology and Internal Medicine

Our diagnostic services at Medicum Lüneburg cover the entire spectrum of modern cardiology, internal medicine, and preventative care. Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art, high-end medical technology, we conduct all examinations directly on-site in a relaxed, anxiety-free atmosphere.

Typical reasons for a presentation

  • Chest pain, pressure or tightness in the chest
  • Heart palpitations, irregular pulse
  • Shortness of breath during exertion or at rest
  • Dizziness, tendency to collapse or fainting spells (syncope)
  • Cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation or flutter, "extra heartbeats" (atrial or ventricular extrasystoles), "paroxysmal rapid heartbeat" (supraventricular tachycardias in the form of AVRT/AVNRT or atrial tachycardia), slow heart rate (bradycardia)
  • Clarification of an abnormal stress or ECG examination
  • High blood pressure that is difficult to control or occurs at a young age
  • Elevated cholesterol levels or a family history of lipid metabolism disorder
  • Follow-up care after heart attack, stroke, stent implantation or heart surgery

Cardiological diagnostics in our practice

  • Resting ECG
  • Long-term ECG (24-hour)
  • Holter ECG for up to 7 days – for the diagnosis of rare arrhythmias
  • Heart rate variability (HRV) – assessment of autonomic regulation and stress level
  • Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) – assessment of heart function and morphological structure of the heart valves and heart chambers
  • Stress echocardiography – examination of heart function under stress (e.g., in cases of suspected circulatory disorders)
  • Spiroergometry – indispensable in both medicine and sports: By simultaneously analyzing respiratory gases and cardiovascular function under stress, the exact cause of performance deficits or shortness of breath can be identified, and at the same time highly precise data can be provided for customized training control.
  • Ultrasound of the brain-supplying vessels (carotid sonography) – early detection of vascular constrictions
  • Long-term blood pressure monitoring – for reliable diagnosis and treatment planning in hypertension
  • Pulse wave analysis – for assessing vascular stiffness and vascular age
  • ABI measurement (ankle-brachial index) – detection of circulatory disorders in the legs
  • Vascular analysis – assessment of arterial stiffness
  • Lung function test – differentiation between heart and lung diseases
  • Sleep apnea screening (polygraphy)
  • Laboratory diagnostics – e.g., cardiac markers, lipid profile, inflammatory parameters, metabolic parameters
